If you're a makeup junkie, you’ll be fully aware that glitter eyeshadow is bang on trend. Everyone is pining after glitzy eyes that gleam in any light. It's no wonder everyone wants to get their hands on some glitter eyeshadows; when the likes of Gigi Hadid and Kylie Jenner have rocked the red carpet slaying this look.
With the party season is coming up, makeup without glitter eyeshadow is just isn't complete. What you determine as the perfect glitter eyeshadow really depends on your personal preference. You may want more metal shimmer than pure glitter. Either way, metallic and glitter shadows are the best product when you want to achieve that truly glamorous, glitzy look.
Practice Makes Perfect
If you’re trying glitter on your eyes for the first time, I do suggest you allocate some time to practice. This look demands practice and patience. Be prepared to make a bit of a glittery mess the first time.
Choosing The Right GlitterSince they are available in so many different forms, glitter eyeshadow is actually quite a broad term. The sizes of the particles differ, as do the colors as do the formulations and, in turn, the consistencies. There are pure glitter pots, glitter pigments, liquid eyeshadows, pressed glitter eyeshadows and many more. It’s a good idea to consider what color eyes you will be having and then choose your glitter to suit. My personal favorite shades of glitter are, gold, black, brownbronze and pink/rose gold. If I had to pick one it would be champagne gold - it suits everything!
Stila Magnificent Metals - Glitter Eyeshadow
My first pick (and this isn’t in any particular order) is Stila’s Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow. You’ll be spoilt for choice with the color range - they’re all gorgeous. My favorites are, Smoldering Satin, Gold Godess and Rose Gold. They enhance your eyes with one sweep and the shimmering finish will last all night.
Unlike other glitter eyeshadows, Stila have mastered the easy application with the integrated applicator. You can layer this over your powder eyeshadows or wear it alone. But I would suggest you use an eye primer before hand. The Bourjois Eye Primer does the job - it maximizes the staying power of anything you put onto your eyes.
Illamasqua - Eyes That Hypnotize
If you want a multipurpose product get your hands on the Illamasqua Eyes That Hypnotize Set and add a touch of sparkle to your peepers with this pure pigment trio. The pure pigment glitter eyeshadows feature a finely milled loose powder that offer an intense shimmering finish.
These shimmering shadows allow you to get creative. The set contains a true gold shade, a pearly light shimmer and an iridescent midnight blue. The pearly light shade can also be used as a highlighter to pull out your favorite features. I particularly love this shade on my cheekbones and cupid's bow.
What I really LOVE about these pigments is the ability to change the consistency into a gel eyeliner! You literally just have to mix the Illamasqua Sealing Gel with the Pure Pigments and it creates a really intense gel eyeliner that's water resistant, too. The midnight blue color as an eyeliner is just magic!
