We all know that makeup can be daunting, especially when you’re busy AF and you barely even have time to brush your hair in the morning. Fortunately, there is some good news if you are one of those people. Simple makeup is in! Very cute.

Everyone loves it— your mom loves it, your boyfriend loves it, and even if they don’t, who cares! It takes less time and it's easier. Everyone will be so impressed with how fast you got ready and how naturally beautiful you look walking out of your house 10 minutes after you wake up. Obviously, though, it’s important to make sure YOU feel good and beautiful.

We’ll be the first to admit that it can be scary to simplify your makeup routine because once you are used to seeing a thick cat-eye on your face every day it seems there’s no turning back. We also know that some days, there is just no time for a cat-eye no matter how precise you are with that liner wand.

It’s important to know how to simplify your makeup routine if you don’t have time for your normal one, or even if you’re just looking to switch it up a little. Maybe you don’t really wear makeup at all, but you want something to fall back on for a night out. Either way, we’re here to give you some useful tips and tricks for how to look like an effortless goddess.

Natural Face Makeup

Face makeup is arguably the most difficult thing to make “look natural,” especially if you have a few blemishes hanging out that just refuse to calm down. At this point, it’s tempting to slather your thickest foundation all over and call it a day. The problem is, this often ends up looking cakey and not at all like skin.

Solution: the other day we tried the Arcona SPF and we are SHOOK. You guys, it’s amazing. Not only does it have just the right amount of sunscreen to protect your beautiful face, but it has an amazing mousse texture that is tinted to the perfect color-correcting shade that is ever so slight, but also thick enough to give you coverage. The key to using a tinted sunscreen or moisturizer as your foundation is to not get discouraged, it won’t cover everything, but in reality, not everything on your skin needs to be covered. Spot treat on problem areas with concealer after you apply if needed, and use a powder to cover your T zone. Ta-da! Flawless, natural-looking coverage.

Natural Eye Makeup

This one really just depends on how busy you are. On really busy days, may we recommend simply using the above concealer as your eyeshadow? No, it isn’t sparkly or smoky, but it does cover your eye veins in just the right way and will give you that awake look you want without even really appearing as makeup. It seems too easy, but it does the job.

For a more advanced, yet still natural look, try using a palette with neutral colors based on your skin tone. Find a palette that has an array of colors that are easily blendable and go from there. With these shades, you really can’t go wrong. Even if you’re not experienced with eyeshadow, start with a base a few tones lighter than your skin, and then feather the edges with a slightly darker one. We love these palettes for their simplicity and variety, even if you’re into more of a smoky eye, these have all the ingredients you'll ever need for that simple eye makeup look.

If you want to add a little more, try lining the waterline of your eye with a liner that won’t easily smudge. We have recently been using this one and are obsessed with it for its smooth application and non-runny qualities. No more harsh, unsharpened liner pencils ladies, this baby glides on like silk.

The truth is, no matter what you’re wearing, you’re beautiful in your own unique way. However, we hope these tips will help you feel more confident conquering this crazy world we live in.
