Whether you wear them every day or save them for a special occasion, fake eyelashes can really transform your makeup game. The only downside to false eyelashes is that they can be a little fiddly to apply, but with a little practice it’ll take you a matter of minutes! We’ll talk you through exactly how to apply false eyelashes to give your eyes the lift they need.

What You Will Need To Apply Fake Eyelashes

There are a few tools you’ll need to get your hands on before you even think about applying your eyelashes. You will need:

  • Eyelashes
  • Tweezers
  • Eyelash Glue
  • Cosmetic Scissors

Eyelashes

Which lashes you choose is completely up to you! If you’re an absolute beginner at applying strip eyelashes, then it might be worth getting your hands on the Eylure Lashes Starter Kit No.101. This kit comes with everything you need to expertly apply your lashes, including; a silicone eyelash applicator, sticks for tweaking the position of the lashes, an extra lash (just in case!) and two bottles of lashadhesive.

My personal favorite lashes are the Eylure Naturalite Lashes – Super Full. These are the perfect lashes to take you from day to night. Fabulous, flirty and flexible – they suit almost any eye shape, helping to add some drama to your look without going too over the top.

If you’re not quite ready to take the leap into the land of false eyelashes, then try some ‘accent’ lashes or individual lashes, which simply accentuate the outer corner of your lashes. Not only are these lashes easier to apply - making them perfect for beginners - they also provide you with a naturally sultry effect without adding too much drama.

Tweezers

It’s not what you’re thinking – you won’t be tweezing any hairs with these! Using a set of tweezers to apply your false lashes will help you to get the perfect, precise application.

The Tweezerman Slant Tweezers are renowned for their unrivalled precision. The perfectly-aligned tips will help you to apply your lashes with the utmost accuracy.

Cosmetic Scissors

One of the most important steps in applying your eyelashes is trimming them to make them fit your eyes just perfectly. You’ll want to get your hands on some small cosmetic scissors to trim your delicate lashes.

The cosmetic scissors from the Vintage Cosmetics Company allow you to precisely trim your lashes to your eye shape. Their cute, floral design will look super-pretty on your dressing table.

Eyelash Glue

To make sure your lashes stay all day, you want to make sure you get your hands on a good eyelash glue. The Duo Striplash Adhesive is the world’s bestselling eyelash adhesive. The nourishing formula contains vitamins A, C and E which nourish and soothe the skin.

The glue becomes transparent as it dries, meaning that it doesn’t leave behind those dreaded tell-tale signs of false eyelashes.

How To Apply False Eyelashes – Step By Step Guide

Step 1

Starting from one of the corners, carefully remove your eyelashes from the packet using your Tweezers.

To measure your lashes, hold them against your lash line and trim them accordingly. You don’t want them to hang over the outer corner of your eye as this will make your eyes look droopy – try to get them to the exact length of your own lashes.

Step 2

To mold your lashes and make them more flexible, try bending them around your finger for a few seconds. This will make application easier and ensure your lashes don’t ping off during the day!

Step 3

Apply your Duo Eyelash Adhesive to each eyelash. Less is more with eyelash glue, so don’t be tempted to apply a large amount of glue as this won’t work in your favor! You want to dot a thin layer of glue along the vein of the lash and leave it to dry for a few seconds.

Top Tip – Wait until the eyelash glue is tacky before applying, this will make it easier to apply and help them to adhere to your lashes.

Step 4

Now it’s time to move onto the best bit – applying your lashes!

Take your tweezers and grab hold of your lashes. Look down into a mirror and line up the vein of the lash with your own lash line.

Top Tip – By looking down into a mirror when you apply your lashes, you’ll be able to get a super-precise application.

Lightly press your lash onto your lash line and then use the reverse end of your tweezers to gently push the lashes down onto your lash line.

Step 5

If you notice a gap between your natural lashes and false eyelashes, don’t worry! Simply fill in the gap with a little eyeliner to hide the gap. You’ll soon get used to applying false lashes and be able to line them up perfectly – it just takes a little practice.

Step 6

To blend your false lashes with your own, apply a little mascaraand you’re ready to go and flutter your lashes!
