We all know how important putting on our SPF is at the start of everyday, but reapplication is the real key to effective sun protection. Ideally, you should be reapplying your SPF every two hours—every 80 minutes if you’re swimming or spending your entire day outdoors. If you’re spending most of your time inside, you may be able to go longer in between reapplications, but be sure to be mindful of how often you’re stepping outside and for how long.
It’s easy to apply SPF at the start of the day, at the tail end of your skin care routine, and it’s easy to reapply if you’ve decided on a no makeup day but knowing how to reapply when you’re wearing a full face of makeup can be tricky, especially when all you have are lotion and stick SPF formulations. To keep things easy, we recommend investing in SPF mists and powders when it comes to reapplication.
