Besides the chunky knits and cozy scarves, our favorite part of Fall has to be the makeup. From warm eyeshadows to dark red lipstick, Fall makeup certainly makes up for the cooler weather and shorter days. We’ll talk you through how to wear a dark red lipstick to ensure your makeup stays on-trend throughout the coming months.

How To Prepare Your Lips

Dark red lipstick is a true statement, but you want to make sure you’re making the right one! Before you even think about putting any lipstick on, you need to make sure you prep your lips properly.

Start by exfoliating your lips with the Bliss Fabulips Pout-O-Matic to buff away dry and flaky skin and leave them looking plump, smooth and totally kissable. Follow up with the Nuxe Baume Levres Reve De Miel lip balm to infuse your lips with a burst of moisture, leaving them supple and soft.

How To Apply Dark Red Lipstick

After applying the rest of your makeup, it’s time to move on to your lips. Its best to keep the rest of your look quite minimal, with a soft smoky eye or a simple slick of eyeliner to ensure your lips are the real star of the show.

Start by lining your lips with the Stila Stay All Day Lip Liner in ‘Cabernet’. Start at the highest point of your Cupid’s bow and draw a line down towards the center of your lips, repeat on the other side and fill in your lip.

Moving on to your bottom lip, draw a line from the outer corner of your lip to the center and repeat on the other side, before filling in any gaps.

Now it’s finally time for that show stopping dark red lipstick. Take the color ‘Madrid’ from the NYX Professional Makeup Soft Matte Lip Cream Collection and use the doe-foot applicator to apply it over the top of your lip liner. After the first coat has dried fully, add a secondcoat for a truly intense color.

If you want to ensure that your lips are truly high definition, take the NYX HD Photogenic Concealer Wand and trace around the edges of your lips before adding a touch of highlighterto your Cupid’s bow.

And there you have it, now you can sport your sassy dark red lipstick all season long.
