Even if those long, hot days are still a ways off—please come faster—it's never a bad time to start taking care of your skin to make sure that it's beach ready when that season arrives. What do we mean by beach ready? We mean that clear, radiant, glowing skin that glistens in the summer sunshine.

If looking in the mirror makes that task seem a little daunting, it's alright, we've all be there before. Here are some tips on how to get glowing skin just in time for those warm, poolside afternoons.

How do you get glowing skin?

A Fresh Face

The first step to any perfect look is a clean complexion. If you haven't already, get in the practice of washing your face with a gentle cleanser every morning and night. Throughout the day, your skin is hit with loads of pollutants and free radicals which cause damage to the skin and can lead to premature signs of aging.

Imagine going to sleep on a face covered in all that gunk and bacteria. Blech, right? Aside from the premature aging effects, leaving all that bacteria on your face causes acne breakouts that definitely don't help add to your skin's glow factor. So first things first, keep your skin nice and clean!

Exfoliate Weekly

When you wash your face, you get all the dirt and grime off your face, but the suddsy scrubbing does little in terms of removing excess dead skin cells from your complexion. Exfoliating your face and removing those dead skin cells helps keep your skin fresh and increases cell turnover, helping your skin to stay plump and supple.

Two to three times a week—depending on your skin—right after your morning cleanse, exfoliate your face with your favorite scrub. Don't know how often you should be exfoliating? Tip: If you just exfoliated and your skin is red and irritated, you exfoliated too much.

If this is you, take it back a day and make sure you're not over exfoliating on the day you do exfoliate! Overexfoliation is not how to get glowing skin faster! Good things take time.

Sun Production Factor is a MUST

You'll discover as you get older that SPF becomes one of your best friends. Unprotected sun exposure not only leads to sunburns and redness, it also leads to—you guessed it—premature signs of aging! UVA and UVB rays damage the skin that, while reversible in some ways, it is SO much easier to prevent than repent.

A nice tan may be the old-fashioned how to get glowing skin, but before you run outside for that much-needed warmth and Vitamin D dosage, slap on some sunscreen! Keep your SPF levels at least SPF 30, and reapply every two hours for the best protection. Even in the middle of Winter the sun still has its effects. SPF is a year-round treatment that, in the long run, you'll be happy you did.

Middle of a blustery Winter, or a blazing hot Summer your skin needs its TLC year round to keep it in tip-top condition. If you've always wondered how to get glowing skin, all you really need is a few shakeups to your regime and you'll be glowing in no time!
