Bought this for my daughters Christmas gift. It was her favorite present and she is amazed at how quickly it straightens her hair. She's been battling with hair damage, being a thick haired red head..and this straightener is, by far, her favorite she's ever had.

Not impressed at all

First, I'd like to say that I've been a loyal Folica and Sedu customer for the last 9 years. This is my 3rd purchase of the same exact Sedu flat iron I bought many years ago.

I am just not happy with this new Sedu flat iron product. Typically, My wavy frizzy hair is flawlessly straight by 320 deg.. But with this one, the temp is all the way to 400 deg and my hair is still not nicely straight. I will give it few more weeks... If it does, I'll sure to update my review.

Inferior to previous model
1I was using a Sedu 1 1/2 inch flat iron for the last 5 or 6 years and loved it! It finally stopped working so I ordered this model which appeared to be the same item. Well it is not! This flat iron is not the same as the older model and does not work nearly as well. Guess that's why it was on sale! Very disappointed and am going to have to look for another brand. Sedu, what has happened to your wonderful product?!

Awesome flat iron
5I highly would recommend this product. Mine lasted over 4 years and just gave out last week. Just ordered my new one. Im lost without it!! It gets my hair extremely straight and I have coarse thick hair that goes to the middle of my back. The chi doesn't have anything on this.

Honestly, such good quality.

First, before I go into my love affair with this product. I highly suggest only using the product in the country it was designed to work in. I just received this straightener for my birthday and decided to take it with me on vacation to Greece a few days later. Well, long story short the iron completely blew out and was completely unusable. The same thing happened with my dryer from a different company so it was not a Sedu issue but a wattage issue. With that said, I quickly replaced the product as soon as I got home from vacation AND I've had the same straightener ever since. It's been 6 years (almost 7 years) since I replaced my iron and it's still going strong. I use the iron 4-5 times a week and it still works just as well as it did when i received the replacement in 2009.
I also own the Solia 1inch inch curling iron that bought solely to curl my hair with a straightener (since my sedu plates are too large) and it's also a great product, but no where near as great as the Sedu. The sedu leaves my hair smoother, frizz free, shiny and my hair doesn't look frayed.
I highly suggest buying this product and if you hate it then you can always exchange it.

Poor quality
1I used to love the SEDU flat iron. I have already bought three. The last one only work for about 9 month and was still on warranty but the replacement last for only a few more month. The problem is that no one can fix it this mean that you waste your money. That's very sad because works perfectly in my curly hair. : (

I bought my Sedu Professional flat iron in the summer of 2005 after I finished high school. Now I'm turning 29 and it still works! It srill works almost as well as when I first bought it. It still heats up quickly and gets the job done, but I feel like I need to use a higher heat setting to get similar results as a lower setting when it was new.. But it's 10 years old. I paid $119 and it's still going strong after all this time.
Unfortunately, I need to replace it after my puppy got a hold of it and chewed on the plates, causing it to now snag and damage my hair. But it was a worthy investment and served me well for many years. I am going to try BabyLiss for a change, but if I don't like it I may have to come back to Sedu.
I highly recommend this straightener!
